A PRICELESS GIFT
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for July 21.
In recovery, we often speak of the 'priceless gift' — and the Big Book makes clear that gift is not just sobriety, but a whole new way of living. On page 83, we read the Promises: 'We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.' That freedom and happiness are the priceless gifts that come from working the Steps. [Page 83] But perhaps the most profound gift is the ability to carry this message to others. As it says on page 89, 'Practical experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics.' [Page 89] That is the gift that keeps on giving — we receive by giving it away. So the priceless gift is both the freedom we find inside and the privilege of passing it on.
What is the most priceless gift you have received from working the program, and how have you tried to share it with others?
