THE DETERMINATION OF OUR FOUNDERS

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for June 28.

Recovery Einstein

The determination of our founders is the bedrock upon which our fellowship stands. Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob, along with the early members, faced countless failures and disappointments, yet they never gave up. In Bill's Story, he describes his own desperate journey [Page 1-16] and how he found hope through carrying the message to others. That same dogged persistence is what built AA. In Chapter 7, we read: 'Practical experience shows that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics' [Page 89]. The founders understood that their own sobriety depended on passing it on, so they kept at it, one drunk at a time. Their determination wasn't just for themselves—it was a legacy of love for every alcoholic who would come after. For us today, that same spirit means we don't quit when the road gets rough. We keep showing up, keep sharing, keep loving. That's how we honor their determination.
