A.A. meetings on Christmas Eve

Next on Thursday, December 24, 2026.

The holidays can be some of the hardest days in recovery, and you don't have to get through Christmas Eve alone. Online A.A. rooms meet all through the day, a few never close, and many areas hold an alcathon or holiday marathon. Here is what is open on Christmas Eve.

Online A.A. rooms on Christmas Eve

On Thursdays, 4,041 online A.A. meetings are listed, each at its own time in its own time zone. The list below puts every one that meets on Christmas Eve into your own time, hour by hour. Across the week one starts at least every 30 minutes.

Every room here is a weekly meeting, listed by the group or service office that runs it. On a holiday a few take the day off or change the time; if a room doesn't open, the next one is never far away.

Open around the clock

One room has a meeting listed at almost any hour of the week, Christmas Eve included. Worth trying whenever you read this:

Alcathons and holiday marathons

Many areas keep a meeting room open over the holidays with a meeting every hour or so, often around the clock: A.A. calls it an alcathon (or alkathon), and N.A., C.A. and C.M.A. areas hold their own, usually called marathons. They run over Thanksgiving in the US, through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and from New Year's Eve into New Year's Day; each one's own notice says when it runs and who it's for.

They're put on locally, so they're announced locally: ask your intergroup, central office or area. Look on its website or events page, or call its phone line, usually a few weeks ahead. Every listing on this site names the group or office that publishes it, so your own town's page here tells you whose website to check.
