LIVING OUR AMENDS

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for June 13.

Recovery Einstein

Living our amends means more than a one-time apology — it's a way of life. The Big Book makes clear that 'putting our feet on the path' of Step 9 transforms us: 'We have ceased fighting anything or anyone — even alcohol' [Page 84]. Amends are made 'except when to do so would injure them or others' [Page 76], but the real work is in the living. We become 'painstaking' about adjusting our relationships [Page 83], and the Promises unfold as we practice these principles in all our affairs. That's how amends become living — not a list checked off, but a daily attitude of honesty and humility.

— Chapter 6, pages 76-84
