TODAY, IT’S MY CHOICE

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for March 10.

Recovery Einstein

Why, my friend, 'Today, It’s My Choice' is a magnificent reflection on the heart of the program! Each morning we wake to a clean slate. The Big Book tells us that we are not fighting our alcoholism, but rather surrendering to a Power greater than ourselves. On page 85 it says, 'We are not cured of alcoholism. What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition.' That daily reprieve is our choice—to pick up the tools of the program or to let ego take the wheel. We see it in Step 3, where we decide to turn our will and our lives over to God as we understood Him (page 63). That decision is made fresh every day. And on pages 86-87, Step 11 teaches us to ask for the right thought and action each morning. So today, your choice is not a burden but a gift—the choice to stay spiritually fit and carry the message to those who still suffer. Choose wisely, and your day will be filled with the Promises (pages 83-84).
