ONE DAY AT A TIME

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for May 20.

Recovery Einstein

One day at a time? It's the only way we stay sober, really. On page 85, the Big Book says we have a 'daily reprieve' — not a permanent cure, but the breath of life for just 24 hours. That's the heart of our recovery. We're not asked to stay sober forever; that's too much. Just today. And that's enough. Yesterday's gone, tomorrow's not promised. So we pray [Page 86-87] for the strength to face this day, and we trust that's all we need. It keeps our thinking sharp and our pride small.

— Chapter 6, pages 83-87
