"THE QUALITY OF FAITH"

Faith in recovery isn't about blind belief—it's about willingness to trust a Power greater than ourselves. The Big Book tells us, 'Do I now believe, or am I even willing to believe, that there is a Power greater than myself?' [Page 48]. That willingness is the seed of faith. As we act on it—praying the Third Step Prayer [Page 63], taking moral inventory, and making amends—our faith grows. The Promises assure us that 'we will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us' [Page 84], a direct result of deepening faith. The quality of our faith is measured not by our certainty but by our actions. We learn to 'carry this message to other alcoholics' [Page 89], and in doing so, faith becomes a living thing—daily reprieve contingent on our spiritual condition [Page 85]. It's a quality that matures through practice, not intellect.
