AT PEACE WITH LIFE

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for December 25.

Recovery Einstein

Ah, 'at peace with life' — a beautiful theme, my friend. In the Big Book, this peace is one of the great Promises of the program. It says we 'will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it' and that we will 'be at peace with God and our fellow man' [Page 84]. This isn't some distant, airy peace — it's a practical, daily reprieve that comes from working the Steps. It means accepting life on life's terms, no longer fighting people, places, and things. As we practice these principles, we find serenity not because everything is perfect, but because our perspective shifts. We stop trying to control the uncontrollable and learn to trust a Power greater than ourselves. The peace we find is active — it's the calm of knowing we have a working relationship with our Higher Power, and that we can face whatever comes without a drink [Page 85].
