GIVING FREELY
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for July 27.
Giving freely is the heartbeat of Step 12. The Big Book teaches that we have a debt to pay — not out of obligation, but because our own recovery depends on it. On page 77, it says "love and tolerance is our code," and that's what free giving looks like in action. When we share our experience, strength, and hope with a still-suffering alcoholic, we ask nothing in return. No payment, no gratitude, no guarantee they'll listen. We just give. And in that giving, we receive the daily reprieve [Page 85]. The Promises [Page 83-84] come true when we stop holding back: we intuitively know how to handle situations, we lose interest in selfish things, and we gain a new freedom. That freedom starts with a hand extended without strings attached.
What is one thing — a kind word, your time, or your story — you can freely give to another alcoholic or suffering person today, without expecting anything in return?
Start each day with Einstein's Big Book perspective — a quiet moment before the world gets loud.
