THE UPWARD PATH

Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for June 2.

Recovery Einstein

The upward path in recovery is not about perfection—it's about progress. Each day we climb a little higher, not because we've become saints, but because we're willing to grow. The Big Book reminds us: 'We are not cured of alcoholism. What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition' [Page 85]. That maintenance is the upward path—a daily choice to seek growth through the Steps, prayer, and service. It's not a straight line; sometimes we stumble, but we keep moving forward, knowing that the direction matters more than the speed. 'We have entered the world of the Spirit,' the book says, 'and our next function is to grow in understanding and effectiveness' [Page 84]. Each step we take strengthens our foundation and brightens our vision.
