IT'S OKAY TO BE ME
Recovery Einstein's Big Book perspective on the AA Daily Reflection for May 14.
In recovery, we often spent years trying to be someone we weren't. The Big Book calls this the 'bondage of self' [Page 63], where we attempted to control everything and everyone. But the Promises tell a different story: 'We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows' [Page 83]. That letting go makes it safe to be ourselves. When we stop performing and managing, we discover a freedom in simply being who we are—flawed, growing, and fully accepted by our Higher Power. It's okay to be you because you no longer have to run the show. As we practice these steps, we find that 'self-seeking' slips away [Page 84], and we can relax into our own skin.
What would it feel like to fully accept yourself exactly as you are today?
